Battlefield 1943

Battlefield 1943

The next installment of Battlefield is out and harks back to the origins of the original games 1940s setting. I have eagerly been awaiting this since the disapointing last installmnet of COD:WAW. I am not sure which platform to buy at the moment, but am leaning towards a PC version perhaps.

Battlefield 1943 has players playing as either the United States Marine Corps or the Imperial Japanese Navy with up to 24 players on mainly three classic Battlefield maps: Wake Island, Guadalcanal, and Iwo Jima; but after 43 million kills upon both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, an additional Dogfight only map called Coral Sea will be unlocked, while the PC version will be accessible during its release.

Out now, check it out here

what the fuck you lookin at?
Why does everyone keep saying WAW was disappointing? I enjoyed it even though it was CoD4 with a different skin.

Part of the reason I say it was disappointing was the initial problems I and many people had with this game(PC version), it was so bug ridden they were literally releasing several patches to try to fix it, because of this problem the game kept crashing for me every few minutes or so. What I actually ended up playing was actually very enjoyable, just I couldn't bear the fact that I would do tricky section and it would crash only to have keep re-doing it over and over.

I like this game, but for some reason lots of stuff is happening to me that shouldn't, I get a lot of "what the heck just happened?!" moments. I have horrible luck sometimes. :)

I play Bad Company multiplayer a lot and it uses the same engine, but 1943 lacks some content, even for a WWII shooter. It is very fun but I would have liked to see more kits, like a kit with an LMG, more maps (maybe when coral sea unlocks it will be better, so go Xbox Players!), and gameplay could be smoothed out more.

I guess shouldn't really be complaining cause it isn't really competing with other games and it's only $15!

I suspect with the release at $15 or so they have at this stage opted not to offer more content with a view to offer this as a later paid for addon.

Damn I have just realized that the console version have released in July but the PC version (the one I want) doesnt ship till September.

its a great game for only 1200 points, when you can get 2 or 3 people in a squad working together you can really rack up the points, but what does piss me off is people jumping in the launch boats on their own and leaving a group of us stuck on the deck, just wait for us to jump in will ya!!!!

Yes unfortunately thats a criticism of mine with Battlefield 2 also, I havent played this yet, so dont know what the online element is like. In battlefield 2 if you were playing with complete strangers then it sometimes pretty much a free for all and not much teamwork. However if you play against more experienced players or better still people you play regularly with then the experience was more enjoyable. So I suppose it all down to what class of players you playing against.

Heard it was a good bang for the buck. Any Battlefield Games are great when you have people you know to play with, otherwise they get old.

Time to start a Freeones Clan IMO!

Yes completely agree it makes the difference sometimes in continuing playing or quitting when you play with strangers who dont give you the time of day. I played Battlefield2 intensely and generally a good experience, the last battlefield bad company was pretty good generally. By all means form a clan, I dont have the game at the moment but would join a freeones clan if there was one.

I think I'm going to cave and get it tomorrow. I've been fighting it because I've got three other games right now that are taking up my gaming time, but this looks like a nice investment.
