Astronomers release galactic collision game

Astronomers have devised a game to help uncover the basis of galactic pile-ups.

The game, part of the ongoing web-based project Galaxy ***, shows players images of colliding galaxies and asks them to match those to simulations.

I'm sure I could find it somewhere, but I prefer to just ask here.

What happens to the galaxy when it does collide? Is everything instantly destroyed or is it slow and "torturous", if you will, and just slowly destroys itself over a long period of time?

Do we really know?
