Enemas help to clean the colon of solid build up, but it doesn't sanitize the colon. There's a big difference.

I've been in a forum where the health aspects of this act was discussed (it was a BDSM forum), and pretty much everyone agreed that there is no specific, inherent health risk. You can't give yourself an e. coli infection, for example.
