Armed Masked Man Robs Church Bingo Game

BRADDOCK HILLS (KDKA) –A masked man with a gun barged into bingo at Sacred Heart Church in the Good Shepherd Parish in Braddock Hills Tuesday night.

The robber demanded money and wound up grabbing about $300 out of a cash drawer before taking off.

People waiting to play bingo down the hall heard a commotion, but never actually saw the robber.

As soon as Rev. Thomas Burke discovered what had happened, he ran outside and asked a parishioner to drive down the hill to follow the robber.

Then, Rev. Burke got out of the car and he and another man chased the robber into the woods, but the suspect eventually got away.

Father Burke says he probably wouldn’t chase an armed robber down again, but he said adrenaline was pumping because someone had stolen from the church.

Parishioners are glad no one, including Father Burke, was hurt. One woman said she was worried when Father Burke chased after the man because she said, “We need him bad.”

Three hundred dollars means a lot to the church. The money raised from bingo benefits the school.

I think armed robbery is one of the most stupid crimes people can commit. Usually the perpetrator risk very long imprisonment times and comes away with small amounts like this. The risk of spending the next decade in jail to get $300 is just flat out stupid. That doesn't even take into account how big of a douchebag those people are for steeling from others in the first place.

I agree with that. Usually they knock off places with little or no money to make it worth the risk. I mean, if you were going to do it, knock off a bank right after they received a cash delivery from the treasury...AND then RETIRE! But no, it's church bingo games, mini markets, and restaurants. PATHETIC! Robbery is PATHETIC anyway...but yeah! Also, if you're going to claim you have a gun, you might as well bring one because you will be charged the same as if you did either way!

As soon as I saw KDKA, I knew it was the Pittsburgh area. I guess the recent success of the Pirates is going to people's heads. Ha ha ha!

Finally, why the mask!?!?!? Doesn't he realize that the "person" who REALLY matters most (assuming he exists of course) ALREADY knows who he is anyway? Just sayin'! Ha ha ha!
