This is simply put, a fun fun fun RPG. It starts out action packed, with a very short tutorial that transitions into a huge ongoing battle.
The combinations involve, you with a dragon, tearing up other dragons/humans/weird trippy creatures. Would could be cooler than that?
Now not everything about Lair is a "tear through", the graphics do become muddled in some of the levels, while other parts look so beautiful I could swear some of those monsters existed in real life and they just photoshopped lizard skins on them. However, there are parts that are choppy since the battles are of such a huge magnitude.
Gameplay is fun. I don't care what people say about the sixaxis being hard to control, it's a new function of PS3 gaming, of course it takes getting used to, but once you do its such a different feel from harassing your joystick or d pad. It feels smooth, and flying around in a dragon kicks serious butt. Flying through and going with individual dragon to dragon battles become intense, and so do the various maneuvers you have to pull off in battles (some quite complex, too lazy to describe).
The plot line is quite in depth, whether you find it cheesy or not is really up to the individual. However, it's nice that they spent so much extra time with it rather than throwing in another RPG with great graphics and no plot or gameplay.
Ultimately, with a few graphics glitches every once in a while, the game itself is DEFINITELY worth getting if you're looking for that new RPG that isn't like every other game. The replay value is low however, as there is no multiplayer except to compare scores online. Bonus content is unlocked from playing the game, and offers interesting concept art, and the music score rivals that of Oblivion and Morrowind. Thumbs up dudes
