Are Porn Watchers Just Lazy?

I was about to post this in a thread where a member started a thread weeks ago, has bumped the thread a few times, but hasn't got a single reply. I didn't want it to seem like a personal attack on him because it happens alot, so I didn't post it in his thread. Am I wrong for thinking this way?

I'm always dumbfounded about threads where the person who creates the thread, geared towards a specific theme, doesn't have anything to contribute to the thread he started. Not even a single link or picture to at least get the ball rolling. I guess it's just so much easier for others to do the "leg work", but didn't forum etiquette require you to contribute a little something? You've obviously seen what you're looking for somewhere. Why not share it and give us some incentive to seek out other material for you?

Well the title of the thread is going to be insulting to most of its readers.So I guess you can eithier Ignore it or go in and get into an arguement.So no responses shows maturity by its readers IMO.

That's silly. Why would the title be insulting? It's asking a question? Stay on topic or don't respond.

I do not understand exactly what is this all about... Do you mean, that it is bad, when a thread-starter doesn't keep up the conversation in his thread?

I do not know about the specific example you were talking about, because you decided not to give us the link, but I think that sometimes there are reasons for not answering in your own thread. when I started thread about Turkey and EU, it soon turned to be a very specific multi-page discussion, where it was just hard to enter into an argument, and hard to add something. I was just reading it, and taking good notes of what other people said, coming to some conclusions etc. It doesn't mean that I lost my interest to that thread or something. I was still tracking it. All I mean is that if it ain't nothing to tell other people, it is better to keep silence and to listen, ain't it?
so, as soon I did that myself, I would not blame people who behave the same way - there are might be some reasons for that.

PS: If I misunderstood the intention of that thread, sorry in advance :dunno:

If I don't know much about a topic I won't post it, but sometimes I don't have anything to say at all and all I want to do is hare something interesting with the other members or just see what they have to say about the topic

I think I know what he means. I have stated many times in my posts the same thing. Why start a thread (just an example) named "Serendipity?" or "Hey, know that girl "Suzy Chapstick" I think she's hot." and give no link, ask no question Not everyone knows who she is, "give a link" or ask something. How can anyone discuss a topic when you don't even know what the starter was saying/wanting to discuss?

Vague is never good. Many, many times I go and find information on the mentioned thing or person and post it in my post. So others like myself can get a clue. :dunno:

I agree with the OP, Ive voiced myself against it in a few threads, specifically in the "Watch that vid" thread where people ask for a specific kind of video and then do absolutely nothing to further thread. It does create the impression that people are looking to have the lnks spoon fed to them, Personally I think it breeds a little resentment since everyone else is doing all the leg work and all the thread starter has to do it pop in once in a while without a thanks or rep. Even remarks as stupid as "shes hot" or the the occasional "I dont like her since she doesnt take the cock", how does that contriubute to a thread?

I guess its the old saying if you cant say something nice, dont say anything at all.

Back on topic though, it would be nice to see a little more shared enthusiasm in threads that you are responsible for starting, maybe you havent much luck in finding what you were looking for, but even saying that would make up for ignoring what you started.

For those that are not quite reading this right, I'm not saying porn watchers are lazy. What I'm asking is if people who start threads asking others to post links to specific things, such as 3 legged hermaphrodites, yet fail to provide any links themselves, should they at least put in a little effort and post some links to start the thread? I think some of you are just reading the title of the thread and not the body.

I have pointed this out in the past several times and was called out as a mod wannabe very nastily and told to leave members alone. Guess that can't be brought up or applied here. lol I even used the same term lazy.

The "Anybody have any good sets or links of redheads with purple scarves standing on their heads naked. Post them here!. Thanks." syndrome. I recommend search and ....well nm you get the point. Like you said, even one link or pic by poster saying "something like this" and then ask for more would at least show good intention. :dunno:

Yes and no. Regular/semi-regular members can be just as lazy and useless as lurkers/few-time-posters.

I find your example as something that doesn't bother me. It'd be nice, but there's been less asking for more. So...

Really depends on the outlook of the member that sees the thread. Some need more and want things at 100% and working fine, some are fine taking extra steps to help.

It's a little lazy. I guess if members were that upset about it they could just quit putting links in the thread. :dunno: I can see in some instances where a person might think others had some quick answers that they know would take them a while to find on their own. I also think some people just like taking the path of least resistance wherever they can. I guess it depends on the reasons why people might do something for them. If it were just to be helpful then maybe it wouldn't matter. I do see the benefit of trying to help people that first help themselves, but sometimes you just want to be nice. Still it can get irritating doing something for somebody else that could easy find the answers if they wanted to.
