Ants swarm over Houston area, fouling electronics

DALLAS - In what sounds like a really low-budget horror film, voracious swarming ants that apparently arrived in Texas aboard a cargo ship are invading homes and yards across the Houston area, shorting out electrical boxes and messing up computers.

The hairy, reddish-brown creatures are known as "crazy rasberry ants" — crazy, because they wander erratically instead of marching in regimented lines, and "rasberry" after Tom Rasberry, an exterminator who did battle against them early on.

That's all we need, "raspberry ants" ! Hairy ones at that !

It's not so far fetched to suggest that foreign insects could be used as weapons if distributed accordingly . . is it ?

Facetious you should worry about this. I hear they are Mexican ants coming here to take your guns and start a Communist coup d’état.

I for one welcome our new ant overlords. :D

 Great Brockman quote!!!

You know, I was just wondering whatever became of this exterminator Tom "Hold the P" Rasberry. They say he did battle with these ants early on. Did they eventually get the better of him?

kinky.

Brake cleaner works nicely, particularly if there's pets around the household.

Kitty cats & dogs can return to area approx 12 hours later with no harmful residual toxins.

just a thought, FWIW ;) :angels:
