"Anonymous" is coming for the Westboro Baptist Church

Interesting websites you linked to there, hmm?

What are they going to do to hurt them? They still haven't gotten rid of Scientology.

Their impact has been pretty undeniable. They're basically the reason why the entire organization has lost its status as a religion in a bunch of states, and the major movers behind the evidence that's now got the organization under criminal investigation.

I say, go get 'em boys. Considering what they did to that CEO a few weeks back, I'm not putting anything past them, even if they are dealing with the world's biggest trolls.

That's the problem though right. They are the final boss of trolls.
- Everyone hates them already. They have a lot of experience dealing with people trying to stop them.
- At least 12 people in the family are lawyers. They are experts at getting away with legal stuff/pushing the boundary but not breaking it. Part of the money they make is from people unsuccessfully suing them IFAIK.
- They are major attention whores. They already produced an open letter repsonse (hope that works) within a day of the news. They probably welcome this kind of thing.

If they are serious(some random person may have issued the threat for all we know), good luck to them :hatsoff: They would probably do a better job than anyone else

Folks the C.L.I.T. is the true enemy we should be setting our sights after.

When they aren't harassing teenage girls, Anonymous does some good work...

Nothing like attacking an evil church on paper. Their next move should be to surround the church with land mines and rabid Dobermans.

AFK..being taken to the vet to get neutered.
I like a good hack just as much as the next man, but in the case of Westboro, I think a can of gas and some matches would be simpler and more effective in both sending a very clear message, and letting them appreciate what the lick of Hell's flames will really feel like; and that they will have an eternity to enjoy them.

Same idea I had :)

And, if they REALLY are on some gods fave list, they would not actually blow up, would they?

Seems like the battle is on. I can't even ping that site now.

It still works for me, although it is really slow.
I doubt WBC cares much since most people visit their site as a joke/morbid curiosity/dose of rage-ahol anyway. It might be more likely that they are happy about it.
The letter is kind of like 'jokes on you, you're just giving us more media attention'.

I wonder if this isn't the Sarah Palin phenomenon happening here. If the media were to simply stop giving ANY airtime to Westboro Baptist, wouldn't they just crumble and cease to exist? They get great big woodies from the press coverage, take that away and they're just a bunch of crazies on a very small scale...

Sure, it's difficult when you're fighting the trolls of all trolls, but it's not as if Anonymous can't find a way in. WBC plain and simple use an inflammatory message to provoke people to do something illegal, then sue the pants off them, there's really no other way they make money to support their idiocy. There's really no question that legally they know what they're doing, however you're talking about a world (the Internet) where legal boundaries in many cases haven't even been set, and in the case that they have, are often loosely enforced. Anonymous has responded, and for the most part backed off what they said earlier, for now. And they're right about the whole thing being a trap, the whole site reeks of sniffers left and right.

What did they do to the CEO?

What did they do to the CEO?

They basically discovered this firm he ran that was in charge of tracking and identifying the members of Anonymous (rumor is it was for the FBI). They took down his company website, accessed and distributed his personal emails, all of his work, then through that, accessed his home network and brought down all of his connections and started trying to access his personal information from there. The guy is now sitting at home with all of his computers disconnected from his cable modem, his wireless router is unplugged, and his telephones (landline and cell) have been disconnected.

I think there is a bit more about it here.

Bottom line is, when it comes down to it, these idiots probably shouldn't fuck with Anonymous.

Nice. Perhaps anonymous can be persuaded to tackle companies who treat employees as slaves...
