As many of you members may be aware I have been using my graphic design abilities to create sigs for other members and myself for a little while now. (With credit given to Tachi who used to create my sigs before I got the software needed to do it myself, thanks man.)
I try to always make my creations fit to the brief given (with a little artistic license) and I thought it was time I moved it up a level with what I was designing and how I communicate ideas to other members on the board.
With my new sig I have tried to make people stop and think about racism…even if it may be just for a second. The original idea for the sig was inspired by an animation I created, which is dedicated to a young lad named Anthony Walker. Sadly he was recently ****** for the colour of his skin! When I read this in the newspaper I found it astonishing and disgusting that in 2005 racism still exists! The Oxford English Dictionary describes racism as: a theory that human abilities etc. are determined by race. But surely any human being with a spec or intelligence must know that this theory is not the case and never has been! So why does it still exist? I came to the conclusion that unless everyone is made aware of the problem, then it will continue to carry on. I believe that it is everyone’s duty to put a stop to racism.
Hopefully my animation will inspire people to think about this point, as after all are we not all the same on the inside?
