And You Thought Size Mattered …

The purpose of the post was to show how insignificant the size of Earth is, in comparison to other bodies, and to remind people that not everything in the universe operates on a human scale. The universe itself is so far beyond the human scale, its damn close to incomprehensible, and the size comparisons in that post were a good way to show some relative differences in size.

If people are looking at star sizes per volume you should look up VY Canis Majoris. If it were places were the sun is it would extend out past Saturn. Which should make it more than twice the size of Antares. It would also take light from one side more than an hour to reach the other side of the star if it could.

Well said old man. ... and to quote a very wise man...

"Just - re-member that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
and revolving at 900 miles an hour,
It's orbiting at 19 miles a second, so it's reckoned,
the sun that is the source of all our power.
The Sun and you and me, and all the stars that we can see,
are moving at a million miles a day,
In the outer spiral arm, at 40,000 miles an hour,
of the Galaxy we call the Milky Way.
Our Galaxy itself contains 100 billion stars,
it's 100,000 light-years side-to-side,
It bulges in the middle, 16,000 light-years thick,
but out by us it's just 3000 light-years wide.
We're 30,000 light-years from galactic central point,
we go round every 200 million years,
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
in this amazing and expanding universe.
The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding,
in all of the directions it can whizz,
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light you know,
twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
how amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
because there's bugger all down here on Earth."

Oh, don't grovel! If there's one thing I can't stand, it's people groveling. And don't apologize. Every time I try to talk to someone it's "sorry this" and "forgive me that" and "I'm not worthy".

LOL.

God: ''COURSE, IT'S A GOOD IDEA!!!"

Seems to reason that global warming is a lot less likely to be the result of us when you take into account our size on that scale as well as the size of the sun compared to the tiny little chunks of ice that we use as a gage for the impending global disaster.
