Since I've brought it up so much in so many threads, I figured I'd just start a thread on American Libertarianism. And to differentiate from the minority of "moderates" that call them American Libertarians (without bothering to read up, like Bill Mahr who constantly trips over that), and I mean the true American Libertarians of the original Jeffersonian Republican which the Democrats and Republicans eventually split from and represented by today's American Libertarian party, I'll clarify that as the American Libertarian-Capitalist.

Since most are entertainment focused here, I'll stick with media personalities to start getting the point across. One individual to read up on is John Stossel. As a media personality, he has to dive into and fight the political rhetoric, but he often avoids the common tit-for-tat and the two-side microcosms, by-passing many of the traditional Democrat and Republican positions. His understanding of economics is what sets him apart from most media personalities -- just like the late Harry Browne (the American Libertarian front-runner for US President until 2004), and even some liberty-focused Republicans as well as "fiscal conservative" Democrats (including Bill Clinton 1994-1998, unlike and especially after he stopped listening to his wife, Hillary Clinton).

To start, his Wikipedia entry is a good one:
