America

What does America mean to you?

I wake up everyday and thank God I live in the United States of America. I love America more than anyone because this country that I was born and raised in offers more freedoms and possibilities than anywhere else in the world. Dream big. And if you work hard, anything is possible in the U.S. Anything! And to my foreign friends on here, don't take this as a shot against your country. That's not what this is about. I'm simply for my country. As I'm sure you're for your country as well.

The "shining ccity upon a hill" is turning into a muddy slum in a cave.
And this, by far, pre-dates Trump's election. Trump's election is just a manifestation of that

Conservatives have it all wrong : They think that, to "make Amertica great again" they need to go back to the '50, the '60 or whatever. But they don't understand that what made America great at that time was that it was looking forward, not backward. All along History, the greatest cibilisations, the dominant nations and kingdoms have always been thosde who were looking forward, looking for knowldege, not those who put faith before science.

3.8 percent unemployment, lowest jobless claims in 50 years. All time lows for black, Hispanic and women unemployment. The economy is booming at 4.2 percent growth. Black poverty levels are at an all time low. Manufacturing jobs are coming back. That shining city on a hill went through some renovations after the last freeloaders but she’s looking better than ever.
It must suck to be you.

Hiliary 2020
A few years back the US of A began to drop bombs on a country in Africa.
They never really gave a reason why, something about their leader sending black guys out to rape women after arming them with viagra.
So for the next 6 months the USA dropped bombs on this countrys most densely civilian populated city. Day and night, every day.
In fact they only bombed civilians, the countrys military never even fired a shot in defense of themselves.
So every day for 6 months the USA turned the city into rubble, even ancient Roman structures werent spared.
Day and night blowing up children, women, men, boys, girls, old, young by the thousands.

On the last day they sent in the helicopters to shoot anything left moving.
Then like clockwork Al-Qaeuaeuada rolled in with their beards and Toyotas and rounded up all the Blacks they could find and chopped them up with machetes.
They turned the mosques into rape houses and basically killed every living thing they could find.
By the end of the week about 1/6th of the countrys population was dead. Plus a million or so orphans who most of them probably starved.
Yep, somehow The USA's sworn enemy who they spend trillions of borrowed dollars to "protect us" from, the ones who did 9/11 knew exactly when the bombs would stop. They also killed the countrys leader for the USA, a fellow muslim, live on video tape.

And a nice Central Bank was installed the next day.

And that is just 1 thing why I can not be proud of the USA.

These are all economical datas tha can change radicall in a few monthes. I'm talking about long-term trends, the kind that take years (even decades) to change. Back in early 2007 the economy was booming and nobody would have predicted that 2 years later the world would be facing the greatest economical crisis since the Great Depression.
5 years ago, you would have said America was in decline (because Obama) and now that Trump's in office, you say America is better than ever. I say America's slowly declining and I would have said the same 5 years ago or even 10 years ago.

America is no longer leading in terms of scientific, human, artistic or social progress. And it would tell a lot more than a new president to change that.

The 10 goddamn commandments should have NOTHING to do with the governing of your country. You know, that bit about

...; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.

Maybe you're right...however, keep it up and we may just have to bring Freedom to Germany again!

What does France mean to you?

Interesting question. It would take hours to fully answer.
I do care about our 2,000+ History, from Vercingetorix to Clovis, Charlemagne, Joan of Arc, Françis 1, Henry IV, Louis XIV, the Revolution, Napoleon, Adolphe Thiers, Jules Ferry, Jean Jaures, Jean Moulin, Charles De Gaule, Simone Veil...

Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Declaration_of_the_Rights_of_Man_and_of_the_Citizen
And the core values we hold dear : Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité (the nation's motto) and Laïcité (Freedom, Equality, Fraternity and Secularism).

The fact that we are rebel at hearts. When french people aren't satisfied they take it to the streets.

Our long artistic history, from Jean-Baptiste Lully to Patrick Modiano and From Victor Hugo to Gojira.

The way people here are generous and caring with each other.

The fact that, even with the dominance of the american culteral/entertainment industry, we managed to keep our own music and movie industries in relative good shape

I could go on for hours like this but I think this is enough for you to get the picture of what France means to me.
