A fanart/wallpaper thread?

Is it ok to start a thread where people can post fanart (wallpapers, avatars, banners or whatever it might be) of models/pornstars? I don´t wanna get freeones into any problems with copyrights and such things but there already are several signature threads and there doesn´t seem to be any copyright problems with those so i don´t see what should be different with a thread for other forms of fanart.
Just to make things clear: With fanart i mean images that have been artistically altered in some way, or original drawings. Just cropping and resizing an image isn´t fanart.

I personally don't have a problem with it as long as there's no hardcore images, the wallpapers aren't hosted on the board, and the site that the photo comes from gets credited in some way.

Also, be aware that there are certain sites that will throw a fit if a nude image is taken out of the member area and used in the fan-art. But most won't have a problem if they're credited.

Well, they can throw any fit they want, legally they can´t do anything about it. Fanart falls under the "fair use exemption" in copyright laws. At least it´s presumed to do so. I don´t think a case involving this type of fanart have ever been taken to court.
This won´t be a problem with the things i make in any case, i almost never use nude images and the only times i use images from the member area of a site is if a model have hired me to do a wallpaper for them.

The credit issue is another thing, i used to always put the website URL on the wallpapers i made but then i found out that lots of sites put their logo on them afterwards anyway. This seriously pissed me off, obviously some people think it´s a good idea to destroy artwork just so they can get some extra promotion for their site so now i rarely bother putting the website URL on them.
Maybe people can post a link to the site the images are taken from together with the fanart?
