239 Feared Dead in Missing Malaysian Airlines Flight

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
It appears that there may be some possibility for foul play in the disappearance of Malaysian Airlines Flight #370 over the South China Sea off the southern coast of Vietnam early on Saturday morning. Eerily similar to the disappearance of Air France Flight #447 over the central Atlantic Ocean back in 2009, there was no distress call when the plane carrying 239 passengers from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on an overnight red-eye flight suddenly vanished from radar about 2 hours into the flight. Preliminary investigation has determined that 2 passengers on the flight were using stolen passports but, at this early juncture in the probe, nothing of any concrete nature has been identified as to the cause of the plane's sudden disappearance. An oil slick has been spotted but, so far, no jetsam or debris field has been identified.

They're saying on the news here that the plane may have actually turned back at one point. Whether it's speculation or not remains to be seen.

Still no debris field located. Now they think the plane may have been turning around when it disappeared from the radar screen. No distress call....the plane just vanished. Very bizarre. They are focusing on the 2 individuals with bogus passports but the fact that there is no jetsam being found is really hard to explain. If it was an act of terror, it is the most low-key operation I have even seen. I sure hope they can locate the flight and cockpit data recorders. Otherwise, this may never be resolved and would possibly be the greatest mystery in the history of aviation.

It's no Bermuda Triangle, but it's a head scratcher, for sure. I'm fairly certain that in about 50 years we'll figure out what happened.

This is getting stupid.

I'm no Aviation expert but don't planes have GPS and those Black Box thingys?

Isn't it almost impossible, with all of today's technology, NOT to locate a BIG fucking plane?

Them mufuckas dead, either in the side of a mountain or under the sea with Sponge Bob.

Yeah, it's looking more and more like that. If they went down in the sea, how the hell do you find them?

Haven't you watched Con Air? You can turn all that off, I think. ;)

The question is why did it get lost prior to it's alleged crash? Terrorists?

If they went down in the sea, regardless of the angle, there would be some sort of debris field. Hitting water after a 35,000 foot dive at 500-plus mph would be like slamming into concrete. There would be immense bits of jetsam....just like there was in the Air France flight. If they cannot pinpoint an area where they went down, there's no legitimate hope of finding the black boxes.

This is getting stupid.

The plane has a transponder that specifically identifies it to the departure, enroute and arrival radar controllers. It also transmits altitude and airspeed data. The transponder can be deactivated by the pilot but the plane would continue to be identifiable as a radar blip. However, no specific identification (airline and flight number) or flight telemetry would be available. The radar blip would only cease to be visible when or if the plane dropped below a specific altitude at which it would be indistinguishable from other objects (usually referred to as "ground clutter"). Over the ocean, there is little or no ground clutter so, specifically, this flight should have remained visible as a radar contact nearly all the way to the water.

Also, the claim that the plane was perhaps in the process of "turning around" could easily be explained if the transponder was deactivated and the plane was put into a steep dive. In this type of instance it would not be unusual at all for the plane to go into a wide, sweeping bank at the same time which, with the altitude and airspeed being unknown, could be masked as a simple turn when, in fact, it was actually just a consequence of the steep dive toward the ocean.

It's the lack of a debris field that makes this so bizarre. 777s don't just disappear but the plane is obviously gone so....WHERE THE FUCK DID IT GO???? :dunno: :brick:

Apparently the oil slick that was discovered was tested for aviation fuel and came up negative. ( Maybe the oil came from some unscrupulous tanker captain washing his tanks then flushing it overboard. Bastards.)

The malaysians certainly aren't keen on giving out info. Maybe they really don't know shit or they fucked up, security or maintenance wise.

As Dirk said, it is a melon scratcher.

The longer it stays 'missing', the more the "Commander Potato(e)s' of the world will have a field day I bet.

Yes. I'm sure Eric has a theory. It's probably converted all the people on board to some sort of new chemtrail. Now it is flying over Idaho, poisoning the crops.

But seriously now, where is the thing?

This is the question that needs to be answered. What has transpired thus far simply makes no sense whatsoever. This is the most bizarre aviation incident in history at this juncture. Beyond bizarre, really.

So, let's pontificate. What could have happened? Hijacked plane that was forced to get very low, fly under the radar to an undisclosed air field where it landed and was immediately covered/camouflaged? Veered severely off course, so we're just not looking in the right spot? The moon lizards decided they needed specimens on which to experiment?

Thanks, Obama.

The plane was transported to the dark side of the moon, man.

Now they're searching the other side of the Malay Peninsula in the Malacca Straits. Why it was over there, if it was, nobody seems to know.

Those waters, actually either side of the peninsula, are some of the busiest in the world. You'd think someone would've noticed something.
