Fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

can someone please change the title to "2011" ???

:horse:

-------------

After a great 2010, season, with Rafa (3 major titles -French, Wimbledon, US Open-, 7 total) and Roger (2 major titles -Oz, YEC-, 5 total) leading the way, 2011 looks promising, specially in the battle with the no. 1 spot, since Rafa has a ton of points to defend, and Roger a ton of points to gain (in Roland Garros and Wimbledon)...

2010 thread here: http://board.freeones.com/showthread.php?t=360128&page=1

it's only a month away! :nanner:

it starts (officially) in Jan 3 with three tournaments in the same week (all of them ATP 250):

Brisbane
top guns: Soderling, Roddick, Verdasco, Fish, Baghdatis, Gasquet
Hopefully, Robin and Mardy will continue playing great.

Chennai
top guns: Berdych, Cilic

Qatar
top guns: Rafa, Roger, Tsonga, Kolya.
Fedal very likely :yinyang:

can't wait to see them in action!! :D

5 best matches of 2010

4 out of 5 were semi-finals, no finals made the list.

like i said, a lot of matches got cut

nice observacion, Lungzyn. No finals?

let's see:
- Oz: a kick in Murray's ass
- RG: a kick in Robin's ass
- WB: a kick in Thomas' ass
- US: a kick (even with a set up) in Nole's ass
- YEC: a kick (in 3rd set) in Rafa's ass

so, no good matches in the major tournaments.

Maybe ATP 250 Doha: THIS WAS GREAT. Kolya crawling his way back against no other than Rafa.

in other great news, DelPo is back early!

Roger Federer: 5 Reasons He Can Reign Again

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/538877-six-reasons-why-federer-can-reign-again

and a 6th: Rafa has TOO MANY points to defend between Montecarlo and Wimbledon. 7000+ points. And Roger? let's see: he didn't play in Monaco, final in Estoril, early exit in Rome, final in Madrid, QF in roland garros, final in Halle, QF in wimbledon. That's about 1500+

A gap between roger and rafa of 5000 points at the beginning of the clay season doesn't seem very likely...

I dare to say that Roger will be No. 1 by the end of Wimbledon. Maybe before that.

Will Nadal have that big of a problem defending at least the majority of those points though?
I mean, even though this was the first time he has picked up that many points during the clay season, the records show that he regularly dominates.
Clay seasons: http://www.imagebam.com/image/6840a0110187760
He has only lost 6 times on clay in 6 years, for real. 203–16 all time.
Won Monte Carlo 6 years in a row, good chance to defend.
Won Rome 5 out of 6 years, good chance to defend.
Won Hamburg-clay and made the final the other year. Good chance to defend.
...and of course everyone knows how hard he is to beat at Roland Garros. Good chance to defend.

Queens Club was on his list on non-countable tournaments, and its a 250, so that is pretty much irrelevant?
http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tennis/Players/Top-Players/Rafael-Nadal.aspx?t=rb

At Wimbledon he has a good chance to defend, a Fedal final might go either way.

The Australian Open will be important since Fed is defending a win while Nadal is defending a QF. If the recent Grand Slam performances continue (Nadal win, Fed QF/SF) then Roger will have a hard time bridging the gap. If the WTF performances continue (Fed win, Nadal finals or near it) that is still a net gain for Nadal at that point. Afterwards Fed can start to gain though.

How interesting :yesyes:

What about Federer never having retired from a match in his career(over 900 singles matches)?
Technically he did once against Blake in Paris 2008, but he withdrew before the match started on that occasion.

You cant really compare an NFL start to tennis in any good way, its just clear that they all hard to beat records.

Serena has confirmed she will be out injured and Venus has never had great success in Australia. Woz has never beaten Venus, but she would probably have a good chance there, and may not have to play her at all. Kim Clijsters is one to be wary of I'd say. Maybe Henin too.
edit: wrong info.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves though. The last 3 years, Woz has lost to Ivanovic, Dokic and Li Na, never making it past the fourth round. She has to overcome that inconsistency problem first. It was still there at Flushing Meadows where she had the best start EVER at a US Open through the first three rounds (iirc), then beat Sharapova and Cibulkova in straights, only to lose handily to Zvonareva in the semis.
