i agree 100%, not only that i think people should have to demonstrate actual skills and mental acuity to get their license from the beginning cause honestly our driver's license tests are a fucking joke...that's terrible but luckily it wasn't as bad as it could have been. :(

Did the thread title make anyone else giggle? I just pictured an old man incapable of seeing over the steering wheel barreling down the road at 6 mph. Made me laugh. Also, if you can dodge traffic, you can dodge a ball.

Yes, I'm a horrible person.

i'm not gonna lie i had a similar mental image...except i initially pictured it as an ancient old woman until i read the article.

Unless the ******** were in her kitchen, I'm not sure how a woman could have done this...

omg, I work at a dialysis clinic and we have this 93 year old male patient and he still drives himself to his treatments. This morning I saw him try and park and he took up two spaces. When he got inside, I told him thats ******* and he shrugged it off. Well an hour later his car got towed. I honestly saw it get towed but I didn't say anything cause I don't like him driving. I've told co-workers that he shouldn't be driving and they tell me, "well he hasn't gotten in an accident yet, so he must be a good driver." WTF! He hasn't gotten in an accident cause he's just been fucking lucky so far. Here in Texas medicaid pays for the elder to get rides to the grocery stores, ********, or wherever they need to go, but they don't use it. I **** old motherfuckers that have too much pride.

i used to work in a small tire and auto shop and an ancient old guy drove in one day to get his tires changed and as we were lifting his truck up the front right tire just flopped over, he'd been driving around all day with his steering literally hanging on by a thread and he had no idea. there was no chance chance that he would've had the reflexes to even make a solid attempt at coming to a safe stop had it gone out on the road.

^way to be spoken wheel :glugglug:

My grandmother had to be put in a dementia home in December. The truly frightening thing is up until that point in December (and with the dementia getting worse), she was still driving.

I confronted my ****** and evidently she had been trying to take my grandma's keys for awhile but my grandma turned nasty and started telling doctors and whatnot that my ****** ****** her. At that point my *** just left my grandmother to it until the incident that put her in the home occurred.

I keep wondering how many of these articles have to keep coming up for the laws to finally change.

here in america, it won't change. I mean come on, even dipshit prisoners have rights. You can **** a dozen ********, and lose your privilege to live among the citizens, but you're still going to have your rights

:/

Driving isn't a right. It's a privilege. A lot of people should lose that privilege.

No, it's just as bad over here. For example, my MIL's ****** is still flipping driving and he SHOULD NOT be driving. But, my MIL can't just go take the keys from him. And until he does something serious enough for the authorities to take away the car, yea. He's still on the road.

Dutch drivers in general are pretty aggressive, tailgate (even when they have more than enough room), don't pay attention to what's around them and I'd say a good amount have the inablility to see farther than the car ahead of them. Add in old people and it amazes me there aren't more fatalities.

Then again, I suppose it's hard to get into a fatal accident when you're always in a traffic jam creeping at 5km/hr.

Elderly driver gets "confused" and runs over people ... again. And again. And again. And again. And again.
