They're the best representatives because they show how bad they can be. Moderates are fine but both types endorse the same book of which isn't needed to be moral. Both disagree. I'll take a moderate any day but "You're going to hell" is insulting regardless of who's saying it.
By being jerks, they show that it's not an attempt at "saving" us, it's an attempt at making themselves feel more secure about believing in myths. They're hostile because it's easier to be a jerk than a kind person. All this arguing and they're mission is to get people to join them in heaven to worship a tyrant for eternity. Yay.
