As Dirk has requested several times in this thread... please keep the *** issue out of the equation. Why? Because there is definitely something very fucked up about the people in this country who are 35 years old and younger.

Guns were easier to come by when I was growing up. You all pretty much know how old I am. For those who don't, I'm 56 years old. There was NEVER an incident in my ********* where some *** brought a rifle and pistols to school and massacred people. NEVER! Why? Because the vast majority of **** back then respected the teachers, the principle, the police, and especially their parents. **** used to get paddled when I was in grade school if you were trying to be the class clown. And yeah, I deserved every one that I got. Also, if there was some *** who was always picking on another, there was usually a fight on the playground after school and the issue was resolved... and most likely the two boys ended up friends.

But with all touchy feely nonsense that the **** are taught today, a two boys can't settle it with a little wrestling and a few scratches and a ****** nose. Now, they are sat down with shrinks at the school and their brains are filled with ****.

I mentioned the 35 years old and younger crowd earlier. Think about this - From the time they were born, they have been taught that abortions are okay. In other words, they are being told that the sanctity of life really has no true meaning. The music they have listened to since they were old enough to understand it, has been filled with garbage about destroying a "BITCHES PUSSY", "Killin' Cops", etc.

They more than likely were raised at an early age in a day-care, instead of their ******, which gives the **** a chance to bond and learn from her through out the day. Instead, some lady who is watching them just so she can make a buck, could give two shits about bonding and or teaching them anything. And then, when they are older and come home from school, they come home to an empty house, and toss some **** in a microwave and proceed to play video games where if you die, you just hit 'reset" and your life is given back to you.

How many **** in the last 35 years actually sit down with their ******, ******, ********, at the table and have their meals together and discuss how their day went? Not many. They come home and toss in some frozen **** into the microwave and grab a soda and start texting or facebooking with faceless "friends"


Ah.. fuck it. I grew up in a different time, where we as **** called everyone who was our parents age, Mr. (insert last name), and Mrs. (insert last name). Especially our teachers. Now days, **** don't do that anymore. I would have gotten a whack on the noggin had i called one of my ******'s friends - George, or Gene, etc.

Oh well, most in here are so much younger than me, it's no wonder you think I'm weird.

Anyway.... the point I am trying to make is, when I was a *** we respected our parents and our elders. I don't see that happening much anymore. Nut what it REALLY all comes down to is.... THE ****** is not what it used to be.

Yet, I get laughed at by some in here who nominate me for asshat of the year because I believe a ****** should be home with her ********, instead of pushing them off on some day care woman who has not the slightest care to teach the **** or bond with them.

All of what I said is a small picture of what and why all these shootings are taking place.

Fully agree. My *** raised me to settle scores with fists after school if a quick talk failed. I won some, i lost some. i even got a broken nose once, but never shot.

****, half the time, the *** you fought would at least respect you, win or lose. It was more a test to see what you are made of.

Dr Spock and the other nut jobs are stripping us of our human nature. Problem is this though: they haven't got a mechanism for relieving the stress build up. As long as the *** is quiet, the folks are happy. Meanwhile the *** or young person may be building internal anger up, then **** like this happens.

Pure madness. And the *** control advocates started the politicalization of today. They're outside the white house as we speak.

Argue all day if you want. But just spend a minute and put your head into the head of one of those teachers, who were trying desperately to save those ********. You can't. You know what else you can't do? Conceive of a mind that is capable of such acts. The point is we can't. There is little we can do that matters. And a whole lot we can't do. Frustration is a terrible limitation. Despair is even worse. So we respond in other ways. Anger is one of those. So is defensiveness. We want something done. We want to feel better.

Today's **** can't say Jesus or God in school, but the teachers can hand out condoms, and teach heterosexual **** all about homosexuality and lesbian lifestyles. Don't ya think that can fuck up a young **** brain at that age? Besides, wtf does learning math, English, history, etc., have to do with teaching **** about "My Two ****"?

A troubled 20-year-old loner with a history of autistic behavior is the ******* behind a horrific shooting at a Connecticut elementary school that left 26 people, including 20 ********, dead on on Friday.

Adam Lanza shot his ****** Nancy, a kindergarten teacher, at the upscale suburban home they shared together and then took three of her guns and drove the Dandy Hook Elementary School about 9.30am.

He used two semi-automatic pistols, a Glock and Sig Sauer, and reportedly wiped out an entire classroom of young ******** and shot several in a second class before taking his own life.

Witnesses say he Lanza going from room-to-room shooting people after first ******* the principal Dawn Hochsprung and psychologist execution-style after they confronted him in the hallway.

Parents who have not been united with their ******** are assuming the worst. One witness told WCBS: 'Police just told us everyone presumed missing is in the school and they are dead.'

Students described being ushered from their classrooms hand-in-hand, with their eyes closed, to the safety of a nearby fire station as police converged on the school.

Adam's ******* Ryan, 24, who was originally thought to have been the shooter, is being questioned by police after he was arrested at his home in Hoboken, New Jersey.

He was on a bus on his way home from work when he was being named as the gunman and posted on Facebook that it wasn't him.

He told a friend he believed his mentally disabled ******* did it. Adam is believed to be autistic.

Another relative told ABC Adam had been 'obviously not well' and Beth Israel, tonight tweeted that her ******** went to school with him and he was 'troubled for a long time'.

Alex Israel spoke to CNN about how she went to school with Adam and she described him as fidgety, and a quiet loner who kept to himself.

She also said he was a highly intelligent student, 'above the rest of us'.

But she said he was never violent.

She tweeted earlier in the day that he was 'crazy'.

The gunman's ****** Peter Lanza, who is divorced from his wife, lives in Stamford, Connecticut, and declined to comment this evening after police performed a welfare check on him.

Neighbors said he recently remarried.

Lanza is believed to have shot himself at the scene, according to the New York Times.

Ryan Lanza's high school classmates always knew something was different about him.

He almost never spoke in class, but made good grades and was an honors student. And he always seemed profoundly uncomfortable in social situations.

It was widely understood that he had mental disabilities - either Asperger syndrome or more severe autism.

A former babysitter told the Washington Post he was 'rambunctious' as a teenager and prone to temper tantrums.

Olivia DeVivo, a student at the University of Connecticut who went to high school with Lanza, said that when it emerged that he was suspected of gunning down 20 small ******** - none of her classmates were surprised.

'They said he always seemed like he was someone who was capable of that because he just didn’t really connect with our high school, and didn’t really connect with our town,' she told the New York Times.

Lanza, 20, lived with his ****** Nancy in a quiet, upscale subdivision in Newtown, Connecticut.

Before his alleged rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday, he reportedly shot his ****** in the face at her home.

I don't cry very often, but the pictures of these **** being led out of the building, many of them ****** and holding on to each other as they walked together... completely heart wrenching. Brought me to tears. Just an unspeakable tragedy. I don't really have the words to talk about it. Nobody should ever have to endure anything like this.

Truly, truly a fucked up situation. One the US seems sadly inclined to repeat over and over and over...

Bottomline, the easier it is to have guns around, the more this kind of **** will continue to happen especially when it's running in the media 24/7 and every suicidal nutjob sees that and decides that if they die they might as well be famous.

I agree that the political talking point discussions occurring over this are stupid. But the conversation needs to be had. More importantly, something needs to be done - and if not now, when? How long is long enough to wait? Because these things happen with an alarming frequency in the US.

It wasn't the box cutters that scared people, it was the fact the hijackers said they had bombs and most people on the plane probably thought this was just a hostage type of situation. They didn't massacre a whole plane with box cutters.

Indeed. Not the weapons, but the fear. A bunch of panicked civilians firing off guns in a pressurized plane cabin would hardly have saved their lives...

...this isn't the only country this kind of thing happens in, and guns aren't the only way people hurt other people.

I am horrified at the tragedy that happened in Connecticut today but I can not believe how many of you are blaming the *** instead of the MAN behind the ***!! The *** did not make this man do what he did, he was a deeply disturbed man with obvious emotional issues with his parents.

It would appear the man was autistic. So here's the problem...the man is crazy. But the actual crazy, where his reality is not the reality the rest of us occupy (really depending on his level of autism - there's quite a big range). How do we blame someone who is not responsible for their actions? Is there someone else to blame, if not the individual? More importantly, as has been said, what the hell do we do about it?

We want better, indeed. And you're quite right; there's only so far our empathy can stretch, given that we don't occupy the same reality as the fucked up people who do this sort of thing. Some of them could be fueled by a blind rage that isn't so far a stretch to imagine; some might be occupying some fairyland fantasy where they're defending some rainbow kingdom from evil (an unlikely and extreme example, I know, but it illustrates the point). The facts of the matter seem to be that we in the US have a lot of crazy people. Guns simply make the crazy people exponentially more dangerous, but as has been said, guns don't shoot themselves.

What we need to be asking: why do we have so many crazy people?
What are we doing with them, and how can we improve on that?

In Portland, just as an example, there's mentally ill folk everywhere. Most of them are harmless, homeless, and without access to any support or services (because there are none for these sorts). Some, perhaps even more dangerously, do have families who simply don't have the resources to take care of the individual throughout the day (I say potentially more dangerous because these are the crazy individuals who generally have access to weapons, far more than the homeless type). The hospital I was born in in California is another one: it was an asylum before it was a hospital and when they decided to shut down operations the folk there were simply released into the public.

I disagree that there isn't a lot we can do. I think there is. We need to be looking in the right direction first though, and that we're not currently doing.

Interesting. I'm as hard-core atheist as they come, and mercilessly ridicule anyone who has religious beliefs, all the time.

But... if the fear of God will stop people from wreaking havoc... then I'm all for mandatory parochial education everywhere. Pound it into ****' heads every day that if they sin against Almighty God, then they will suffer extreme unthinkable pain.

If Lanza thought he'd go to hell for doing this, he wouldn't've done it. But he obviously thought that he'd just cease to exist, and not suffer any consequences for this.
