Since we have threads popping up about features people would like to see added to the board, I thought I'd give you guys a list of things we're considering when we make the board upgrade.

Mind, not everything on this list will make it. We have to consider a lot of things when adding a plugin. But, you might find it interesting. ;-)

- Enhanced rep functionality
- Picture album galleries
- Double post prevention
- Ability to ban an annoying user from a particular thread
- Being able to mark threads as 'solved' in the ID section
- Seperating 'sticky' threads from the rest
- Hide images (for the slackers still on dialup)
- Panic button for those of you who view porn at work...

Yes please! Being able to distinguish between solved and unsolved ID threads will make wading through that section much more appealing.

Also, I'm sure you've outlined this elsewhere, but have you outlined a release time for the new version? I plan to spend a few days away from the board at that point, so the bulk of the bitching will be over.

I'll probably know more on how close we are tomorrow. Raymond ****** the board (and blamed it on me, of course) and had to be completely re-installed and all the data migrated over again.

So that stalled progress a bit.

I like the Ability to ban an annoying user from a particular thread, but I'd also like it if you could ban a certain user from looking at your public profile, and/or ban them from giving you a rep, whether it be positive or negative.

As for the Enhanced rep functionality, what does that mean? A neutral rep?

Banning a user from looking at someone's profile isn't in the plugin. But, with the enhanced rep we can ban an individual from using rep, period.

However, this would only go for those that ******* the rules. Not people that are simply giving neg rep since this isn't against the rules.

Someplace safe. Maybe I'll make it go to Disney.

Unfortunately, the plugin is for vbulletin 4. We're currently on 3.8...

Does this mean the thread wouldn't show up in a search, and/or even show up when looking at the thread list in a section?

Also, would it be possible to ban yourself from a thread? I ask because I've seen a few threads that I just find disgusting and would prefer to never see again.

I hope the main application for this is for OCSMs to stop harassers from polluting their threads.

Otherwise it would be pretty lame to use it as de facto censorship of unpopular opinions on general subjects.

For example, WTC7 posts some utterly disagreeable positions and holds some wildly disturbing beliefs in some cases but why make possible banning a person for sucking at opinions and beliefs though??

I've absolutely no idea. I'm not allowed to play with the v4 board yet since Raymond swears I broke it last time playing with reputation.

Right now my idea is to use it more as a way to keep a member from getting him/herself ******. I think a lot of the bans could be prevented if a member were ****** to take a "time out" from a particular thread.

I don't think this would have worked with WTC7 since he could happily find a conspiracy in almost anything.

But, this is also a good tool to keep the idiots who keep doing the same thing over and over from posting in the OCSM's threads without having to ban them completely.

While a great idea for sure, many of these posters deserve a banning IMO. :2 cents:
