... Convinced my 71 year old ****** to take out a reverse mortgage on her home for 150,000 dollars and dear old *** loaned them 125,000 dollars of it.

The home was completely paid for until this and now when my ****** passes away the home which would have been inherited by myself my ******* and my ****** will have to have the mortgage paid off or sold.


My ****** didn't even sign an agreement with my ***. She just gave them the money so in essence we all assume the debt if it is still outstanding when *** passes.


I reall don't like her ( my ******) very much right now.

The house is valued at 465,000 now. The reverse mortgage accrues interest. I want my *** to live a long life and the note is not payable until she passes. The heirs assume responsibility for this.

What I going to have to do is have my ****** take out a traditional mortgage to pay off the reverse mortgage and somehow convince my ****** and her husband to assume the payments. I may use the threat that they took advantage of an elderly person.

I am very pissed right now.

Unless her mental abilities have diminished to the point she can't make adequate decisions for herself maybe you should think of the fact it's your ******'s money to do with how she wants and it's not yours or even your ******'s for that matter. Part of me wonders if what some of what your upset about is the fact your looking at some of the value of it as yours when it's not. Anyway, what ticks me off is that if my ****** passes there is nothing legally that would make my ****** have to pay off the mortgage. So she would still be entitled to one third of the value of the house after the reverse is paid off.
