Ok, you spouted a bunch of things that sound like great bumper sticker slogans, and like all things like that they make a great sound bites (even if all bumper sticker stuff doesn't have a basis in fact or logic), but shouldn't you argue your positions in ways that actually both explain and prove why you believe them and why they are true, instead of saying single semi-random sentences?

I don't like the fact that this guy won, but all I can hope for is that he waits and listens and trys to work with Dems before he hits the no button. As for later this year I think the Dems might pick up even more seats.

Unless you just returned from 2 years in solitary, you surely must mean "As for later this year I think the Dems might lose even more seats."
This is a foregone conclusion...

It is fascinating that the 2 members in the adult industry seem to be completely oblivious to the fact that Republicans do not believe a woman should have control over her body. If Republicans will outlaw abortion, is it too hard to understand how outlawing Porn won't be so far away?

--Obama did not campaign for Coakley. He made an 11th hr appearance. SINGULAR. Campaigning implies more than 1 act/appearance, doesn't it?

--The Democrats in Washington learned tonight that doing the Republicans' bidding--not ending the wars in the middle east, escalating Afghan, not championing actual healthcare reform--will only get them replaced by Republicans because Liberal voters will not go along with the Republican agenda.

There was a poor Democrat voter turnout. That's why Brown won. He didn't win because "the nation" rejected Obama. The people in Mass who turned out to vote didn't like Martha Coakley. If Scott Brown goes to Washington and votes along a Conservative Republican agenda he will get recalled.

The Democrats in Washington (and Obama) learned that by coddling to this sham idea of "bipartisanship" you don't actually get anything that the people elected you to do, done. I think Obama and the Dems might try to actually GO LIBERAL (end the wars, revisit Single Payer Healthcare, institute REAL BANKING REGULATION) but it's too late.

The GOP has their filibuster and the Dems have NOTHING TO SHOW FOR ANYTHING. Atleast if you're a Democrat, it's better to go down standing up and fighting for what you believe rather than lose elections because you coddled to the GOP....

It's amazing how Americans can be herded around and feared into acting because of mass media. Nothing has happened in 1 year and many Americans believe the nation is continually collapsing or the nation is headed in a different, wrong direction.

It's heading in the same direction as if Dubya was in charge!!

I think that Ari Fleischer was dead on when he said that the ''Ben Nelson arrangement'' in Ne., really woke up the voters in general. The dealings w/ Mary Landrieu was ENOUGH of the politics at it's sleaziest ! and then, along comes Senator Nelson ? :hammer:

All in all, today's election was a nice referendum against the special interests of this government ! Health Care Reform is all about Big Pharma kickbacks and the govts eagerness to assume greater control over our lives. HC is essentially a gateway for the passage of a plethora of many new future impositions to come, for instance, the government would be able to essentially control the greater marketplace : ''This'' is too dangerous for you minions ! ''That'' food is bad for you, we're taking it off of the market.... !! Guns are dangerous !!! .....If you really think that HC ref is about you and better health care, geesh  you're either idealistic, impressionable, already on welfare (for no other reason than you could) or you've never had to, nor had the backbone to provide for yourself... which is a cryin shame altogether. :scream:

I think New Jersey, Virginia and Massachusetts have proven the people are tired of the Democrats and they way they govern. It is going to be a sad year for them when a lot of them lose their elections. The people are speaking and the Democrats need to listen. Hell I saw Anthony David Weiner say that same thing a half an hour ago.

JaneB...the GOPers were tossed out resoundingly on their assess after running virtually all 3 branches of g'ment for 7 of the last 8 years.

Getting a little ahead of yourself aren't you.

To the degree that the demos have taken their lumps since they took back congress...it's been due in large part because they didn't hold Bush accountable but continued to tow his line.

So honestly, step back a little JaneB and take a good look at the reality...

Frankly, people aren't pissed at demos for things they consider demos to do...they're pissed (rightly or wrongly) because they perceive Obama and the demos to not be doing enough to part ways from the policies of Bush.

The people are speaking and the democrats need to listen? Well consistently so...the people spoke in the last election...what did you Republicans hear?? Just curious...

This is just a foreshadowing of the huge beat down that the Democrats will suffer in the upcoming elections.

Great news.

Lets see! Obama caused Republicans to win in New Jersey, Virginia, Massachusettes and soon Nevada!(Harry Reid is next).
People are seeing this socialist president as a mistake who TRIPLED the national debt in just 1 year!

No I am not getting ahead of myself.

People are pissed at the Democrats and it is not because they are not doing enough to part ways from the policies of Bush.

People are pissed at them for trying to shove universal healthcare down our throats.

The people that voted for Obama are now turning against him and voting out people that want his shitty healthcare.

The people are speaking by how they vote, you can spin it anyway you like.

Uh...to the degree the people who voted for Obama are upset with him it's by and large because they would have like him to end both wars (not just one) and make policy they believe benefits the little guy and not appear to be for "wall street".

Those who don't want health care reform didn't vote for Obama in the first place.:2 cents:

Oh  to my post. :D

Sound Bite  I think that republicans w-a-n-t women to have control over their bodies, that is, better control.

BTW Is this Brown guy a rino or what ? :P

People are seeing this socialist president as a mistake who TRIPLED the national debt in just 1 year!

Reagan also tripled the national debt :)
Hey, maybe he was a socialist too

Actually that is not true. I always have to laugh when someone says that about Republicans and porn.

Riiiight
Ever heard of The Meese Report?
Take a wild guess who commissioned it?
That's right, Ronald Reagan.
And the fundy wing of your party is arguably more powerful now then it was at that time.
But hey, just keep laughing :glugglug:

!!

c'mon tits, republicans are not ever gonna take away that right, or even try.
many are against partial birth abortions, I'm sure you know what that is.
Its pretty ****** .
stickin those forceps in that fully developed babys head and suckin out those brains
Obamas for it.
1997: opposed bill preventing partial-birth abortion

Many republicans are against adults taking minors across state lines for abortions without parents consent.
Obamas for it.
1997: He voted against requiring minors who get out-of-state abortions to notify their parents.
Voted NO on prohibiting minors crossing state lines for abortion.

And ditto for giving a baby who has survived and abortion human rights.
meaning watching it die withou doing anything to help it, which is the same as chuckin it in a garbage can and even less humane than ********** it with a pillow.
2001: Opposed legislation protecting born-alive failed abortions

but he did do this in 2006:
Sponsored bill providing contraceptives for low-income women.
which is ******* taxpayers to pay for poor chicks rubbers when they fuck.

campaign? ok, lets just say he promoted her enthusiastically.

Here's an article from 2007 that might interest you

FBI reluctance stalls Bush anti-pornography push

Wed Sep 19, 2007

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush, twice elected with solid backing of conservative Christians, promised to curb adult pornography in the United States.

But the administration has had little effect on the $13 billion industry, anti-porn activists say, largely because the FBI has focused investigations on small operations producing extreme forms of smut instead of on the bigger companies.

Adult-obscenity investigations have taken a back seat to more pressing issues such as terrorism, even though former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales named obscenity as a top priority, two FBI officials said.

Internal FBI guidelines also encourage agents to focus on the most egregious violations -- material that depicts ****, defecation or sex with *******.

Pornography producers "know that they don't have to worry about being prosecuted because it's only the small companies that are producing that kind of material," said Patrick Trueman, who headed the Justice Department's ***** Exploitation and Obscenity Section between 1988 and 1993.

Even though the prosecution of ***** pornography has greatly increased, porn-industry insiders agree that adult business has not been dented, despite repeated promises by Bush and his attorneys general to be more aggressive.

"I and most of my colleagues view these kinds of cases as being pretty much an anomaly," said lawyer Jeffrey Douglas, who is defending porn producer Max Hardcore on obscenity charges. Hardcore's films show rough sex and abusive treatment of women.

Justice Department spokesman Bryan Sierra said the department does not have guidelines that spell out what sexually explicit material crosses the line into obscenity. "It's basically prosecutorial discretion," he said.

DIFFICULT TO DEFINE

Obscenity has been notoriously difficult to define in a legal context -- "I know it when I see it," Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart famously said in 1964.

Under a test established by the court in 1973, the material in question must depict sex in a manner that offends contemporary community standards and is devoid of artistic or scientific value to be found obscene.

That has given law enforcers enormous discretion.

Under Republican Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, prosecutors like Trueman targeted a cross-section of the industry in sting operations that drove several of the largest porn distributors in the country out of business.

Under Democratic President Bill Clinton, the Justice Department pursued few, if any, adult-obscenity cases.

The current Republican president promised to crack down on porn during the 2000 election campaign, and appointed religious conservative John Ashcroft as his first attorney general.

Ashcroft's successor, Alberto Gonzales, set up a separate unit with four prosecutors and 10 FBI agents focused on adult obscenity, on top of the existing ***** Exploitation and Obscenity Section.

Phil Burress, president of the anti-porn group Citizens for Community Values, said Ashcroft and Gonzales both assured him that obscenity would be a high priority.

Maybe it's just me, but if I was in the industry I wouldn't find any of that laughable.

That is so pathetic, that even Harry Reid would want to kick your ass. They lost because Americans are so masochistic that they want more of the same? Have you no shame? The People's Republic of Mass. Just elected a Republican US Senator. That hasn't happened in like eleventy billion years.:1orglaugh

c'mon bodes, you usually do better than that.
I would say that from 2001-2008 probably a million porn scenes were posted on the internet and a few hundred thousand porn sites sprang up.
So obviously bush and his party didnt do a whole hell of a lot to take away porno.

damn BC what the hek you doin up so late?
