What do you guys think of the U.S.A welfare system? Do we spend too much? Not enough?

Personally I think we spend too much. I don't think we should take money from others and give it to some others.

I always thought U.S.A let you decide how to spend with freedom but it's different. So much "entitlement".

Welfare helps a lot of people, in all honesty. But, some people just take advantage of it and, quite frankly, don't fucking deserve to be on welfare. I'm not saying that I have an impossible life to live, but there are people who make more money than I do and qualify for welfare. I can pay my bills and I make less than some people on welfare, sooooo...:dunno:

But, like I said, welfare helps a lot of people who actually need. It's just that some deserve it and some don't.

Amazing huh? Although welfare/ AFDC(not including unemployment/***** care credit & other safety net programs) is less than 1 or 2 percent of the USA budget people are outraged:1orglaugh

And quick to blame others(Blacks /Mexicans ) when the majority of it is paid out to White women. I once posted many of the welfare myths ,but simply don't feel like it again.:dunno:

Sure there can be more stringent requirements/time limts etc...but the finger pointing is ridiculous.

Single *******, both white and black, make up a vast majority of welfare recipients. Bother receive about 40% percent of welfare payments, with white women getting about 1 percent more. Blacks make up a hugely disproportionate percentage compared to the population though. Blacks are only 13% of the popluation accord to U.S.A census.

Hispanics only make up about 2% percent of welfare recipients.

This is not for genetic reasons.

Half of women on welfare have no high school education.

Well, we have similar problems in Western Europe. I think the problem with our welfare state in Britain is the issue of perpetuating an underclass who are totally dependent of welfare for everything. Some of it's fine, of course: free school (a right to all), healthcare (to all), emergency services (to all)... but free housing, income support, ***** benefit without question? Hmmm.

Perhaps it's time to stop paying people to have babies - this is a huge under-discussed problem here, exascerbated by the PC brigade. It's a can of worms - we're creating a group of people at the bottom of the social ladder with no social mobility and they're made up largely of ethnic minorities (which leads to resentment among the indigenous population as well) and a minority of white British with similarly low prospects. My thoughts on going forward?

1. Heavier taxes for those with more money than they can spend to pay for services everyone can use and fund state pensions.

2. No ***** benefit after the second ***** - there are enough people here anyway, so why pay people, particularly those who are less likely to "pay back" into the system, to have ********?

3. All possible municipal housing (council, projects) to be tranferred into shared ownership schemes whereby a fraction of the rent becomes the occupants' personal estate. This will help transform estates and break-up the two-tier system of council housing vs private ownership in the UK.

4. All prisons to be totally self-sufficient and more, so that they actually serve communities freely, rather than act as a burden to taxpayers.

5. All unemployment benefits/income support to be paid for after real work - look around you. You can see the jobs that need doing that never get done. Why pay people to sit on their behinds all day when they can be out working for their benefits?

6. No more asylum seekers, refugees, or foreign workers to be allowed to jump the queue up the housing list over others awating housing. This is an issue that the BNP have capitalised on - and you can see why.

NOPE.

White and Black women. As I already stated. It's not politically correct, but it's true.

Blacks get a disproportionate amount per population. Societal reasons cause women and blacks to be disproportionately represented in the poor and welfare.

An apology of wrongness would be polite. In discussion, concession is good otherwise it's just dogma. I change my opinions all the time, based on wherever the evidence leads.

Also, I don't care who gets welfare. I'm opposed to welfare in general. But that's a deeper political and philosophical discussion for time.

Well, in the areas I have been in I see white women.

I tried to receive welfare and was told I had to get a doctor's recommendation.

I was unjustly fired because of my ailments. I'm working on getting disability.
If anyone needs money from the government, it is people like me.

But, unless I have illegitimate ********, people like me have to go through all the red tape.

Maybe, in your area, but in the whole U.S. in general that is not, by any means true. (Also, I believe that an anecdote or personal story is not good use of to win argument with great logic.)

You can't work? Good luck searching for job or assistance.

I was working. I had to take off because of my illnesses and so did another guy where I worked, but he wasn't fired.
I have work limitations. I have the papers, but no one wants to hire anyone with limitations.
So, no I really can't work.
Even though companies say they are EOE, they are liars and their business license should be taken from them.

Welfare could work if the government wanted to weed out those who take advantage of the system. But, the government doesn't care or they would have done that already.

There are fewer workers having ********, because if they want to get by on their measly income, they have a hard time financing ********. More and more workers need a second, and maybe even third job to get enough income.

Thus, they have no time for their ****, if they do have them.

It is so easy to hack away at the welfare system. But those of you who think it is that easy are probably a victim of the poor american school system.

If the basic income was big enaugh to raise families and live on it, the people on welfare would bend over backwards to get a job.

But the financial system is built and fine-tuned so that a very small circle of people make ******* cash while the rest of the nation pays by living poor.

And now that those super-rich masters of the universe have pushed the system over the edge, we have to pay even more.

Are you so easily fooled? Instead of attacking each others, try to make a difference. Get organized, be it politics or whatever, and help your country to overcome the state it's in.

Also, just to be clear, the racial disparity in welfare is for societal reasons, not racial.

I wish they did, but they are puppets who are have been bought off.

People need to fight to keep their rights.
Most are too passive and expect the government to do everything.
They are docile sheep who dance to the tune when the tune is played and move to the pull, when their

When you pay into the Social Security system, you're supposed to receive that money either at retirement or when you can no longer work.

I have chronic illnesses and the papers from the doctor to prove it.

That sucks, and no offense (as I don't how serious your health problems are) but why should you be entitled to welfare just because you're sick? :dunno:

My *** has Huntington's Disease, but that doesn't mean that she is entitled to welfare. Also, the Social Security program in the US has a lot of restrictions. You don't just "pay into it" and then start getting "paid back" when you stop working. It's a lot more complicated than that.

The gumment should require something in return (something accredited for work experience, etc.) from those able bodied recipients of welfare, otherwise, they're simply fostering lifetimes of dependance.

Employ, education and the role of responsibility builds character, dignity and empowers ones concept of self sufficiency.

That was the start of my problems.

I called Legal Aid and they helped me get my unemployment.

Now they told me to go ahead and try to get my Social Security.
If I'm turned down this time, they will help defend me and get my Social Security.

There's medication for bi-polar disorder and you could get a job that doesn't require you to walk or stand (because of your legs). Sure, it's not a ***** situation, but I don't think that scenario qualifies you for a big dose of government money. There are people who have it a lot worse that receive a lot less help than you.

That medicine can make you have suicidal thoughts and I don't need that any more or more depression.

There are side effects with all medicines. I know people who are bi-polar and their medication does help them a lot, side effects or not.

Is it a nerve problem? I mean, you couldn't sit and work? Customer service centers (call centers) hire a lot of people with leg problems because you don't have to stand. Or, data entry, internet data, etc.

I've suffered through migraines throughout my entire life and they've only gotten worse as I've gotten older. I can't look at light, I can't hear noise and I have to pack my whole head in ice or else I'll feel like ******* myself. When I get migraines, it makes me black out/******** after a while and when I **** up, I throw up everywhere for a good hour or two. No medication works for me. :dunno:

Unfortunately, your doctor isn't the US Government. I'm not saying this stuff to be a dick; this is just how it works.

My uncle is "disabled" because he is blind, but he doesn't get any government funds. He had to work to support himself, just like everybody else (with obvious exceptions). Like I said, it might not be a ***** situation, but I'm sure there is something that you can do.
