Intelligence is in the eye of the beholder. I suspect that the only reason you are calling them dumb is the fact that you disagree with their positions. I don't think any of the Supreme Court Justices as of now are dumb. I have disagreed with the positions of most of them at some time or another. As have you.The joys of compromise.

Can't wait to find out why it's perfectly fine for trump to nominate someone 50 days before the election but Obama couldn't 6 months before. I'm betting that it's different somehow because Obama was in his second term.

I haven't looked into it. It's possible, given that any nominee has to be senate approved, it might have been left pretty wide open, because a lot of the constitution seems to assume that the presidency and senate won't both be corrupted by the same people.

Unlike other positions there are no official qualifications for becoming a Supreme Court justice. It's fair game. My post was in jest, but as Mongo states - anything is possible now. I like how politicians who profess such strong 'Constitutional' positions just change them depending on what is good for their position. A true Constitutional position should not change.

This was a true fear post-1787. I'm sure we have all read the Federalist and Madison's argument in #10: Faction is "a number of citizens, whether amounting to a minority or majority of the whole, who are united and actuated by some common impulse of passion, or of interest, adverse to the rights of other citizens, or to the permanent and aggregate interests of the community".
